Review: LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill

Walking can help improve your mental and physical health, keep you active, and aid in weight loss. It’s a pretty fantastic activity to turn into a habit…

but it can be hard to stick to a walking schedule if you don’t have any good trails or sidewalks near your house.

You have a few options in this situation. You could drive to a park or trail and walk there. You could get a gym membership at a gym with a place for walking or running. Or, if you want to walk in the comfort of your own home you can invest in a treadmill.

Treadmills are one of those things where there are so many different options and prices it can feel like you’re lost in a sea of choices. I can tell you right now that any of the low end options are going to be missing a lot of helpful features such as the ability to set an incline. Many also have weight limits as low as 150-200 pounds and have thin belts that make them only ideal for petite walkers.
Before you start shopping you should think about which features are most important to you. One of my favorite midrange treadmills is the LifeSpan TR 1200i Folding Treadmill. It’s middle of the road price-wise and has all of the features I consider most important for someone walking for weight loss.
To me the most important things to consider are:

– Belt width
– Weight limit
– Ability to incline
– Ease of storage
– Speed range
Other important features to look for are:

– Support rails
– Workout feedback
– Ease of assembly or option for professional assembly
The 1200i has most of these covered. The only thing that’s missing are the side support rails. If you need support rails you may want to consider upgrading to the 3000i which is slightly more expensive but has all of the same features of the 1200i plus a bit more power and good support rails.
If you don’t need support rails, this treadmill will give you everything you need. The running area is 20×56. The speed range is .5 to 11 MPH so it’s perfect for walking, jogging, and running. The deck has good cushioning. It comes with an LCD screen that tells you your incline, speed, time, distance, calories, heart rate, and step count.
This treadmill even has some nice added features that are very convenient. It has a water bottle holder and a book rack so you can read or watch a movie on your tablet while you’re walking. It also has iPod/iPhone integration and speakers so you can listen to music without headphones.
Even better, Amazon offers huge discounts on this treadmill! We’re taking hundreds of dollars off. You can also purchase professional assembly through Amazon if you don’t want to deal with putting it all together, though a novice could put the entire thing together in under an hour.
